Flowerhorns do not exist in the wild environment. These are essentially hybrids that resulted from extensive cichlid interbreeding. Cichlids are generally not fussy when it comes to mating, and they will spawn with pretty much any other fish of the opposite sex, as long as it is either the same species or another variety of cichlid.
